I wanted to just sell cosmetics and was told that I could buy at a 40% discount or more and resell however I wanted to. Once I signed up I was immediately asked for more recruit names and told I was to attend a mandatory meeting the next day and I had to go to at 3 more.

These meetings had nothing to do with makeup. They were recruitment meetings for Market America. I did not see anything in writing about Cosmetics in the career guide and even the word Motives Cosmetics did not appear anywhere in the Career guide. It was all about quotas an BV's IBV's etc.

Bottom Line: The people who conned me into this lied to me about quotas and downlines and Amway etc. I was promised something that wasn't true and now I lost over $500 to these scammers.

Monetary Loss: $550.

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

From what your saying your friend didnt do a very good job at explaining the details of the business MA.

Make-up is a huge part of MA

You are able to purchase their products at cost and sell to your prefered price.

The meetings which i believe was not explained to you very clearly is to teach you how to still make money using a franchise concept in order for you to not have to be a sales person for the rest of your life and still make very good money.

Funny how all the supporters of MA resort to insulting those complaining. After doing some research, I canceled my appointment with the sales rep trying to recruit me.

He was a high pressure recruiter trying to convince me, just as I've seen here, that those complaining online are just the "losers" that didn't follow the "business model". Based on the number of detractors compared to supporters, the pyramid scheme seems apparent even in this very forum.

As suggested in a later thread, read about MLMs at www. pyramid scheme alert .com

I don't agree with Concerned Friend - plenty or wealthy people continue to do ordinary day-to-day activities to help others, stay involved in the community, get out of the house. Some people have a passion - why not share their success stories with others?

Concerned Friend sounds like he's just looking for any reason to tear Market America down.

Netjonze: It sounds like the fault lies with the person that brought you on board, not necessarily with the company. Motives is a HUGE part of Market America.

If you are still interested in selling cosmetics, I'd be happy to discuss your options. Please email me at mich.mckenna@***.com.

It sounds like your trying to sell something too... "Discuss options" ... What do you know about makeup?

You had better be careful, Mike. Market America has a practice of shutting distributors down who allegedly solicit other people's down-lines, and they don't give any money back because it is written in their small print, inch thick career manual you are asked to live by after you register your account.

It is a cat fight to keep bv and you might be putting yourself in claws way!

Hope this helps.

At the behest of one of my now former best friends, thanks to Market America, I attended a few of their meetings. The gentleman that was leading the meetings said that he was making $11,000/month as a distributor.

This immediately threw up a bunch of red flags for me because, I'll state it quite simply, why in the world would someone who is making that kind of cash, be peddling a concept every week in a cheap motel by the airport? If someone was truly making that kind of money, they'd be sitting on the deck of their yacht parked behind their mansion on the intracoastal in Fort Lauderdale.

Seriously folks. Just think about that for a few minutes.

Here's the glitch, Concerned Friend. I do not believe the man said he was making $11,000/month as a distributor.

I am pretty sure this is what he really said:

"I have made $11,000 in a four week billing cycle."

Please note that these two statements are completely different and distributors are trained (as I was) to say it in just this way. He probably did not make that kind of money monthly.

Imagine if he got that amount of money only once a year and still had to say the same statement? Pretty sad vision, don't you agree?

They are still there at the meeting even they are making 11k/month because they are having a strong desire to help people to make money or willing changed their life. But for you with closed-minded you will not understand that feeling.

MA have 580 millionaire in 22 years since founded in 1992. Do u think all 580 millionaire is at the meeting...?

Majority they are on their big yacht..! It's had growth 34% since last year.
